The opening ceremony of the largest projects in the gas industry was held
The gas industry is still proud
Operation of 1,850 km of the sixth and ninth national gas pipelines and the development plan of the dispatching center of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) inaugurated by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on 23th August via video conference with the presence of Bijan Zanganeh, Minister of Petroleum and Hassan Montazer Torbati, CEO of the NIGC.
At the ceremony, the President of the Republic, while pointing out that Iran’s gas supply network is unique in the world, called the gas industry an infrastructure industry and a factor in the development of the country and said: Yesterday, the leadership said that this government should remain a souvenir for the future government, and gas will undoubtedly be one of these Souvenir.
Rouhani called the achievements of this government in the fields of gas, gasoline, diesel and petrochemicals a great monument for the future government and said: With the great work that has been done in the joint oil and gas fields in this government, our gas production from common sources has increased 2.5 times and oil production has increased about 6 times.
By saying that the gas industry is a factor in the development of the country with the production of clean energy, infrastructure industry and a factor in the development of the country, the President stated: The total gas production of the country from 600 million cubic meters per day has now reached nearly 1000 million cubic meters.
He continued: Iran’s gas supply network is unique in the world, 17,000 villages in this government are connected to the national gas network and the total number of villages benefiting from the blessings of gas has increased from 14,000 to 31,000 and 89 power plants are supplied with gas.
Rouhani added: Gas is a huge industry; It will both produce clean energy and causes the development of the country, so that today, we can export gas to Turkey and Iraq in the west of the country, and we are able to export this clean fuel to the eastern countries as well, and in line with this, the gas pipeline stretches to the border of Pakistan.
Pointing out that 95% of Iranians now use the gas, Rouhani said: Most of the country’s power plants and petrochemicals use gas feed today. Also, there are gas pipelines all over the country from Assaluyeh to Kurdistan, and we have become self-sufficient in production, but we must be careful in consumption to remain self-sufficient.
Equivalent to 5 barrels of crude oil, gas is consumed
He added: In winter, 800 million cubic meters of gas is consumed daily in homes, or it is provided for public consumption, which is equivalent to 5 million barrels of crude oil, and in normal (non-winter) conditions, gas equivalent to 2 million barrels of crude oil is available to the public which this shows that gas is so importance for the administration of the country.
Rouhani continued: All phases of the South Pars have been completed except one phase. We have become self-sufficient in gasoline, gas and diesel, which is a gift that this government will leave as a memory for the next government and even future governments.
He pointed out that the government has taken great steps in the field of oil and gas and said: The 11th and 12th governments have left valuable memories for the Iranian nation and the future government, and future governments can benefit from its blessings.
Success of Oil Industry Despite Sanctions
The Minister of Petroleum also stated at the ceremony: the country made great achievements in oil and gas projects despite the sanctions.
He added: despite the most severe pressures and sanctions, the oil industry has not only succeeded in operating its production facilities, but has also been able to carry out its development plans in such difficult conditions, such as the ones that are being inaugurated.
€ 3 billion investments by the gas industry in transmission lines
Saying that three important oil industry projects with a total investment of 4.7 billion Euros will be inaugurated on the occasion of the Government Week (August 23-29) by the order of the President, Zanganeh said: the total investment in the three projects which include Iran Trunk lines 9 and 6, the first phase of Bushehr Petrochemical Plant and West Karoun power plant, was 4.7 billion Euros, this figure is also high on a global scale.
Addressing the President, saying that the projects that were inaugurated in the gas industry today are related to the transfer and stability of this clean fuel network, he added: As you know, there is a big gap between the main gas production centers in the south of the country and the main gas consumption centers in the center, north, northeast and west of the country, so we have to transport gas through pipelines.
Zanganeh added: Simply, to transport 100 million cubic meters of gas per day, we need to build a 56-inch (one and a half meter) pipeline and several stations along the way. The cost of building a 56-inch pipeline per kilometer varies from one to two million dollars, depending on the circumstances, and the cost of building each pressure boosting station is about 75 million euros, Therefore, whenever we want to transfer 600 million cubic meters of gas per day from Assaluyeh to other places, we need more than 6 pipelines and tens of pressure boosting stations.
Private sector investment in gas industry projects
He announced the investment cost of the gas transmission projects of the Trunk lines 9 and 6, and its stations as 3 billion and 100 million Euros and added: Notable point is that 1 billion and 400 million Euros of this amount was provided for the first time by the private sector in the form of construction, operation and transfer (BOT), which enabled us to export gas to Iraq.
Zanganeh said that the total amount of Iranian gas exports to Turkey and Iraq is now 80 million cubic meters per day.
Update the National Gas
Dispatching Project
Zanganeh referred to the National Gas Dispatching project that was inaugurated today and reminded: The dispatching design of the National Gas Company started and was implemented in 1997, when I joined the Ministry of Oil, but due to the huge expansion of the country’s gas network, it was updated and rebuilt.
Reminding that the responsibility of dispatching is monitoring and commanding the country’s gas network, added: Gas refineries, gas booster stations and main gas transmission lines all operate under the supervision of the National Gas Dispatch Command; Dispatching, with the tools and the information it receives, makes decisions instantly based on need at all hours of the day and night.
The Minister of Petroleum, noting that we have more than 37,000 kilometers of gas transmission lines, continued: Currently, about 94% of the population of Iran and most of the small and large industries and power plants are covered by the gas network, the task of dispatching is to maintain gas pressure in the network to continue gas supply.
NIGC Dispatching Center
Unparalleled in Middle East
Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said the company’s dispatching management center is unparalleled in the Middle East.
Hassan Montazer Torbati, while commemorating the government week, said: it is up to the dispatching management center to decide how much gas any refinery should receive or through which pipeline. The center is also responsible for controlling gas flow to every city and consumer.
He continued: To do this, the Dispatch Management Center of NIGC, receives 50,000 operational data at any time from all of the country’s refineries, transmission lines, stations and export and import points, and this information is updated every three seconds.
The CEO of the NIGC stated: In this center, all refinery operations and line networks are controlled and monitored at all times to provide stable and reliable gas, and the software used in this center is designed to predict gas consumption and temperature.
24-hour control of the country’s gas network in dispatching management
According to him, the dispatching management center of the NIGC, controls the 24-hour gas network of the country and its stability, and everything that happens in the gas network is monitored in this center, which is unique in Iran and the Middle East.
In addition, the center in Tehran is a support center for dispatching in Isfahan, which previously monitored 400 points in the country and reached 900 points in the development plan.
Operation of 1850 km of gas transmission pipeline
Referring to the start of operation of 1,850 km of the gas transmission projects of the Trunk lines 9 and 6 and its stations, Torbati said: this project in the western corridor of the country has caused us not to see a drop in gas pressure in Kurdistan and Kermanshah, but a correlation is established between the central and western corridors, and the western provinces receive gas from two routes.
Referring to the increase in gas production in South Pars and its impact on the acceleration of the operation of the Trunk lines 9 and 6 gas transmission pipelines, Torbati stated: This corridor will supply gas from Assaluyeh to Miandoab, and we plan to continue this line from Miandoab to Bazargan if gas exports develop.
