Green Gas Supply Campaign Reached Fars Province
Fars; the Second Most Gas-Rich Province
Gas supply development can be considered one of the most important and effective executive activities of the government in reducing the consumption of liquid fuels and capacity building to increase product exports, reduce air pollution, increase social welfare and eliminate deprivation, especially in rural areas.
Following the development of gas supply in the country, Fars province hosted the Green Gas Supply Campaign.
Accordingly, some time ago, the ceremony of exploiting gas supply projects in Fars province was held by video conference with the presence of Bijan Zanganeh, Minister of Petroleum, Hassan Montazer Torbati, CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) and a group of officials from Fars Province.
The Minister of Petroleum began his speech by thanking those involved in supplying gas to Fars province and reminded:Fars province is the second most gas-rich province in the country. We have several fields in this province from which gas is currently produced, and other fields are also in future development plans.
By saying that in the level of gas production and consumption up to the horizon of 1420, the development of almost all known gas fields is planned, Zanganeh stated: Fars province is now one of the leading provinces and the use of the word "Green Campaign" applies to it.
As saying that all the efforts made in gas supply are the result of the view of the Ministry of Petroleum and its management on the integrated development of the gas industry and on the other hand, thanks to the great tireless efforts of our anonymous Mujahidin in South Pars,Zanganeh mentioned: Gas production from the South Pars field has increased from 280 million cubic meters per day in 1392, to 700 million cubic meters by now. These numbers are not simple numbers, they are very, very large numbers. No one understands the meaning of these numbers until they have worked in this area.
Installation of 30 platforms in difficult conditions of sanctions
Ministry of Petroleum continued: Setting up 17 refineries, installing more than 30 platforms, digging hundreds of wells, thousands of kilometers of piping in South Pars, etc., were put into operation well and competently in the hard conditions of sanctions and the highest pressures.
He added: This is a great success that the oil industry has achieved and was able to supply gas, so that we can now be proud and reach the record of daily production of one thousand cubic meters of crude gas.
Noting that the environment, contractors, industries, the government and the whole country benefit from gas supply, the Minister of Petroleum clarified:Gas supply has also reduced the consumption of petroleum products and increased its exports, and this is also beneficial for the government; we now export four times as many oil products as in 1392.
Develop a preliminary plan for gas exports to Afghanistan
The CEO of the NIGC also said at the ceremony:The initial plan for gas exports to Afghanistan has been prepared and we have completed the correspondence and we are waiting for the country"s diplomatic policy to enter it.
Torbati continued: Our basis for the gas export project to Afghanistan is to rely on the private sector, but it needs to have the necessary permits from the Afghan government.
He added: Increasing production in South Pars has been one of the backbones of the development of the country"s gas industry and from the beginning, it was decided to reduce liquid fuel consumption with the development of gas supply.
The discovery of a new gas field in Turkey has no effect on the contract with Iran
Also in response to a question of reporters about the impact of the discovery of Turkey"s new gas reserves in the Black Sea on the extension of the gas contract with Iran, hesaid:This issue does not affect the current contract for the export of Iranian gas to Turkey, and it remains to be seen how much future needs will affect the balance of the Turkish market.
The CEO of the NIGC continued:But the amount discovered is not a significant figure for their total needs and we hope to start negotiations on a contract extension soon.
